The inspiration for our main thriller theme, the 'social-network-stalker' idea, came from the traditional stalker theme common with in very successful thriller films such as 'Fatal Attraction', 'Scream', 'One Hour Photo' etc. But also the modern phenomenon, that is social networking, that is becoming such a huge aspect of our modern lives. There are over 60 million active facebook users, and an average of 3% growth a week since Jan.2007. We choose to focus on two major social network sites 'Facebook' and 'Myspace', not as a personal attack, but because these are the two better known sites, so as not to directly impersonate either site, we came up with our fictional networking site, 'Facespace'.
This slide show i found online, gave me some facts and figures regarding the social networking phenomenon.
As you can see The figures are huge, and quite alarming, and it is definitely an issue that needs to be discussed.
